Fiksu creating great Boston jobs

Tuesday, May 29th, 2012

The Boston Business Journal recently bestowed an award on Fisksu for creating great Boston jobs.

The creator of a mobile app user acquisition platform was named one of the Best Places to Work in Massachusetts by the Journal.

The survey project was launched in January by the Boston Business Journal in conjunction with market research firm Quantum Workplace of Omaha, NE. Companies were evaluated on the results of more than 18,000 employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questionnaires that addressed such factors as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.

The honor recognizes Fiksu’s achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture.

Fiksu was one of over 400 companies to qualify for consideration based on a two-stage nomination process and the results of employee-satisfaction surveys taken throughout March and April.

“The past 12 months have been fantastic for Fiksu as we’ve experienced rapid momentum and growth, a credit to the outstanding team that we’ve assembled,” said Micah Adler, chief executive officer, Fiksu. “We’ve worked hard to build a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence, and are honored to be recognized by one of Boston’s leading publications for our ongoing commitment to our employees.”

“Our Best Places to Work event will again recognize the importance of cultivating a great workplace culture as a competitive advantage,” said Chris McIntosh, publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “Companies on our list can be justifiably proud of creating a high level of workplace satisfaction during an economy where traditional rewards like big raises and bonuses aren’t as easy to give. In good times and in bad, our results validate how the creation of the right corporate culture can create powerful business advantages. Employees are proud to work for companies that are about more than just business.”

Donation could create Boston healthcare jobs

Sunday, May 20th, 2012

A new donation given to the Children’s Hospital Boston could mean more healthcare jobs.

Children’s Hospital Boston is the nation’s top pediatric hospital – ranked first in more specialties than any other. The pediatric hospital is number one in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, kidney disease, orthopedics, and urology.

The hospital recently received a donation from Brian Palmer, president and CEO, Measurement & Control for GE Oil & Gas.

Palmer provided the charitable gift to Children’s after receiving GE’s Chairman’s Award.

GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt recognized Palmer for his outstanding leadership with the award and a donation to a charity of his choice.

Palmer said he chose Children’s Hospital Boston as a result of lifesaving treatment received by his son who suffered from Kawasaki disease in 2008. The donation will further Children’s Hospital Boston’s mission to provide life-saving medical care to children of all ages from around the world.

“The treatment and support that my son and my family received from Dr. David Fulton and his team at Children’s Hospital Boston was world-class,” said Palmer. “If you have had a child in need of care, you know how fantastic the people at this hospital are, and I am proud to be able to support such a tremendous organization.”
