Boston Jobs Still Available

Although the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy area has seen its economy take a slight decline, it also has managed to add jobs on a month-to-month basis. During May the area saw its unemployment rate increase from 7.2 percent to 7.5 percent, which was lower than the national unemployment rate at the time of 9.4 percent.
During June, the area had a total non-farm employment of 2,455,700 workers, according to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 2,442,000 workers during May, but a 2.7 percent decrease from last year.
StartUpHire.com recently found that the greater Boston area had more than 700 job openings at venture capital-backed companies during the end of Q2. This puts Boston second only to Silicon Valley, which had more than 2,000 openings. The company also looked at the number of jobs available in Atlanta, Seattle, Austin, Southern California, Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.
